Green Man Festival
The folks organising Green Man Festival in South Wales believe that “jumping around in a field is a human need as old as time itself.” This ethos is easily agreed upon by the families and friends who venture into the event’s Brecon Beacons countryside grounds for a weekend in the height of the UK summer.
The scene is green and the mood is lively here at Green Man. Music might be the event’s lifeblood, with a focus on independent folk-inspired artists, however other great loves are celebrated with just as much vigour. Ales, ciders and perries are sourced from over twenty Welsh breweries, the ‘Babbling Tongues’ tent draws attention to the wonders of the spoken word and plenty of outdoor space sets the scene for midnight bonfires, stargazing and field camping.
Bring children, bring friends, bring mum and dad if they’re game. Every Green Man moment has its own soundtrack, making for a truly wholesome festival experience.
WORDS OF WISDOM
- To camp or not to camp? Green Man is about pitching a temporary roof for a few nights, living with essentials only and doing away with routine for a while. For those who are allergic to tent admin or prefer a little luxury wherever they wander, there are a few alternate options. Pre-book a Hotel Bell Tent for up to six people. Have someone else set up your standard tent in Tangerine Fields. Bring a campervan or caravan. Or, find lodgings at a nearby B&B in Crickhowell.
- Pack for all seasons and situations. Specifically, sun hat, gumboots, rain jacket and warm knitwear to ward off evening chills.
- Visit Green Man’s haven of holistic realignment, Nature Nurture. The healing garden is found under a tranquil glade of ancient Welsh oaks. While here, try a new style of yoga, book in for a soak in one of the wood-fired hot tubs or simply preen and primp in front of Hollywood mirrors.
