  • Getting there: Singapore has many links to the world. Flying into Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), a major aviation hub in Asia, is the most convenient means of entry. Arrive from Malaysia by train or road via the two bridges which link Singapore to Malaysia.
  • Capital city: Singapore.
  • Population: 5.702 million.
  • Religion: There is freedom of religion, however Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism and Christianity are considered the four main religions.
  • Language: The official languages are English, Tamil, Malay, Mandarin Chinese and Standard Mandarin.
  • Currency: Singapore dollar (SGD).
  • Climate: A tropical rainforest climate, without distinct seasons. Its location gives it even temperatures, high rainfall and humidity.
  • Transport: Most of Singapore is accessible by road. The public transport system is very modern and efficient combining taxis, buses and a Mass Rapid Transport (MRT) with stations all over the island. Outlying islands around Singapore can be reached by ferries.
  • Best time to travel: Pretty much anytime really as the weather is quite consistent throughout the year.
  • What to wear: Casual and smart casual is acceptable for most situations as long as it is neat and clean.
