  • Climate: Martinique has a tropical and humid climate with relatively stable temperatures year-around. The southern end is dry but the northern mountains are much greener with with rainforest cover.
  • Transport: Rent a car to explore the island or travel by bus for shorter distances. A vedette (ferry) between Martinique’s main resort areas and Fort-de-France is a pleasant alternative to dealing with heavy bus and car traffic.
  • Best time to travel: Temperatures are consistently in the high twenties all year round. December through to April has the best weather and many festivities, making this peak season. May and June are also good months, with fewer crowds and lower prices, and before the tropical showers and possible hurricanes of summer.
